Loew-Cornell Fine Line Painting Pen
The Loew-Cornell Fine Line Painting Pen was originally made with the arts in mind; but has been found to be one of the most useful tools for stone chip touch ups on automotive paintwork! If you haven't seen the videos online yet simply search YouTube for 'Loew-Cornell Rock Chip' or check out the embedded video below.
The tip of the Loew-Cornell Fine Line Painting Pen is just 0.5mm and so you can touch up even fine chips without using excess paint that could cause too many high spots that you can sometimes get when doing brush touch ups. Using the Loew-Cornell Fine Line Painting Pen means that you can often avoid needing to sand or polish touch ups to level them - as the small amount of paint used and accuracy of touch up allows you to get them very level to the paintwork. Make sure to check out the instructions tab for some tips and tricks to using this pen successfully and watch the video below.

Getting your paint
Start by sourcing a colour matched touch up for your vehicle. We recommend either going directly to the dealership for your vehicle or speaking to a paint supply shop. The quantity of paint required depends on how many chips you are touching up. Many paint touch ups are only the base coat colour (and so have very little gloss); we recommend mixing in some clear coat or requesting there to be a little bit of clear coat mixed in to ensure a gloss touch up is achieved.
Preparing the surface
Make sure the vehicle is clean and dry. For the best result use some isopropyl alcohol to strip any polish or wax residue from the surface of your vehicle. Once clean and stripped you can begin the touch ups.
Using the paint pen
Start by loading paint into the end of the pen to get it to the top of the 'dropper'. You can use the brush of a normal touch up bottle if there is one - or otherwise a small dropper should work too. To allow the paint to run simply tilt the paint pen on a slight angle into the stone chip; allowing paint to flow (you may need to tap the pen a few times to get it to start flowing initially). If you are doing a long session of paint touch ups - the paint may begin to dry. If the pen starts to clog use the included cleaning tool to gently clear the tip or a bit of isopropyl alcohol or paint thinners will help you keep it clean and working.
Cleaning & maintenance
After using the pen make sure to thoroughly clean it using isopropyl alcohol or paint thinners - and the cleaning tool included. We recommend doing this straight after using the pen before the paint fully dries.
